Educational Qualification:
1. District Judge (Entry Level) - The Applicants should possess the following qualification:
(i) Must possess a Degree in Law of a University in India established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or a State Act or an Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission, or any other equivalent qualification and got enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or in the Bar Council of any other State. Must be practising on the date of Notification as an advocate and must have so practised for a period of not less than seven years as on such date.
(ii) With regard to Assistant Public Prosecutor-Grade I or Assistant Public Prosecutor Grade-II, they must be having not less than seven years of experience as an Advocate and / or Assistant Public Prosecutor on the date of this notification.
Note:- The educational qualifications prescribed for the post should have been obtained in the order of study, viz., 10th / SSLC + HSC or its equivalent + Bachelor Degree / Law Degree.
Age Limit: (As on 01.07.2023).
For SC / SC(A) / ST Candidates belonging to the State of Tamil Nadu - 35 years to 50 years.
For Others and Candidates from other States / Union Territories -35 years to 47 years.
For Persons with Benchmark Disability (SC / SC(A) / ST) Candidates belonging to the State of Tamil Nadu (the disability should not be less than 40% [Benchmark Disabilities]) - 35 years to 60 years.
For Persons with Benchmark Disability (Others & Candidates from other States / Union Territories (the disability should not be less than 40% [Benchmark Disabilities]) -35 years to 57 years.
[Others means candidates not belonging to SC / SC(A) / ST in the State of Tamil Nadu]
For direct recruitment, Maximum age limit has been increased for two years vide G.O.(Ms) No.91, Human Resource Management(s) Department, dated 13.09.2021.
Persons with Benchmark Disability shall be eligible for Age Concession upto ten years over and above the maximum age limit prescribed. (Section 64 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016).
Madras High Court may follow the following process to select the candidates.
(A) Preliminary Examination [Objective Type Question Paper in Optical Mark Recognition Paper (OMR Paper)]
(B) Main Examination
(C) Viva–Voce Test.
The Preliminary/Main Examinations and Viva-voce Test will be held at Chennai and / or any other place, as may be decided by the Madras High Court.
