Multiplying Bacteria

Bacteria are known to multiply very rapidly.

A certain container contains just one bacterium on the first day and there are twice as many on the next day. In this manner the number of bacteria in the container doubles itself every day.

Assuming that the container would be full of bacteria on the 10th day, on which day would the container be half full.

Answer:   The container would be half full on the 9th day. Since the number of bacteria doubles each day, the container should be half full on the day before it became full.
