Around the Equator

            Supposing one decides to walk around the earth on the equator, the top of the person’s head would describe a circle whose circumference would be longer than the circle described by his feet.
            How great do you think the difference would be?

Answer: Let us assume that the average height of man is 175 cm. Let us take R as the radius of the earth. Then we have:
2x3.14 x (R +175) – (2 x 3.14 x R) = 2 x 3.14 x 175 = 1100 cm
                  1100cm = 11Metres
The strange thing you would notice in the problem is the result in no way depends on the radius of the earth.
